Gorky Film Studio, the famous producer of classic Soviet films, will unveil its own Star Alley, to mark the studio's 100 year anniversary on September 16, TASS reported. The studio's Star Alley will be their own Russian interpretation of Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
“We want to first glorify the names of those directors who stood at the foundations of the studio at the beginning of last century,” said the General Director of Gorky Film Studio, Sergey Zernov. ?€?We will work on adding the names of prominent actors, who made considerable contributions to the development of the studio,?€? he said. The studio is considering making the event an annual tradition.
In celebration of the studio's centenary, film stills will be exhibited in prominent train stations throughout Moscow. Opening in September, the photographs can be enjoyed by passengers and visitors alike.
Opening on Oct. 5, the ground floor of GUM department store will host a vintage costume exhibition, featuring costumes from the studio's own archive.
Zernov has ambitious plans for Gorky Film Studio's future. The upcoming changes will soon take it to the forefront of Russian cinema, he said.
Collaborations with Moscow’s prestigious Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK) and the All-Russia Exhibition Center (VVTs) will expand the studio's community involvement in the future, while they already have a couple films in production, including Vyrypaev?€™s 'Salvation.'
The studio complex is undergoing an extensive modernization to turn it into a multifunctional cinematographic center. The Minister of Culture, Vladimir Medinsky requested that construction be completed by 2017, and Zernov said that everything is on schedule.
