A German manager for Mercedes-Benz's Russian operations died after falling down a staircase at a Moscow nightclub on Saturday night, Russia media reported Sunday.
Alexander Lambert tripped while descending a staircase from the second floor of ?° nightclub on Moscow's Rochdelsk?°y?° Ulitsa, TASS reported, citing unidentified law enforcement officials. He died of his injuries at the scene, the news agency reported.
News agency LifeNews, known for having ties to the security services, identified the place of the accident as Moscow's Duran Bar and said 34-year-old Lambert had been drinking. Mercedes-Benz Rus declined to comment to LifeNews on the reports.
Lambert had recently been appointed head of external affairs and strategic development for Mercedes-Benz Rus, having earlier held a different position in the carmaker's public relations department, the report said.
The local branch of the Investigative Committee confirmed in an online statement Sunday that an investigation was under way into the death of a 34-year-old man who had died at a Moscow nightclub, but did not reveal the man's name.
