SIMFEROPOL, Crimea () -- Parliament in Ukraine's Crimea peninsula sacked its pro-Russian chairman Wednesday and many deputies called for a more flexible leader who is ready to work with the Kiev government.
Deputies voted 54 to 32 to oust Sergei Tsekov, who led the region's failed attempts to distance Crimea from Ukraine and build closer ties with Russia. The parliament was expected to vote for a new chairman later Wednesday.
"Tsekov was too orthodox and inflexible in regard to Ukraine," deputy Alexander Korotko told journalists.
