Activists Take Up Principal's Pretrial Death

Human rights activists have launched an investigation into the death of an elite Moscow high school’s principal in pretrial detention, the BBC Russian Service reported Monday.

Andrei Kudoyarov died on Oct. 8, five months after he was detained on suspicion of taking bribes.

The Federal Prison Service said Kudoyarov died of a heart attack, but activists said over-crowding and poorly equipment in detention facilities frequently lead to illnesses or exacerbate existing conditions.
