Russia's Federation Council Head Wants Children's Media

Alphalight1

The head of Russia's Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, has suggested creating media for children in Russia.

?€?Today's generation of children should also have its own media, its own space on the Internet and its own content on television,?€? said the speaker of the Russian parliament's upper chamber.

In her view, children's media outlets should help increase the effectiveness of children's organizations. She cited Soviet-era children's magazines such as ?€?Pioner?€? as successful examples.

Matvienko also said that ?€?all organs of state power should think about further mechanisms to involve schoolchildren in the social-political life of the country.?€?
