Islamic State Militant Detained in St. Petersburg ?€” FSB

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) in St. Petersburg has detained a member of the Islamic State terrorist group who had received training in Syria, the RBC-Petersburg news agency reported Tuesday, citing the local FSB branch.

A criminal case has been opened against the detainee, who holds Russian citizenship. He had been trained in a military camp "for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities," the FSB said in a statement, RBC reported.

On April 9, the Central Court of the Russian city of Volgograd arrested 5 members of terrorist organization Pallasovsky Jamaat, who, according to reports, were planning terror attacks and recruiting for the Islamic State, RBC reported.

The Islamic State is a terrorist organization banned in Russia.
