Dozens of fisherman in Russia's far-eastern Khabarovsk region have been rescued after they became stranded on an ice floe drifting in Muchka Bay, the Newsru news website reported Tuesday.
Emergency workers carried out a large-scale operation to rescue the fishermen.
According to the regional branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry, there were about 40 people and more than 30 cars on the ice floe.
They also stated that 89 people and 16 units of rescue equipment including two rescue boats and three helicopters were involved in the rescue operation.
All the fishermen were safely removed from the ice floe and medical attention was not required.
Local officials encourage residents to adhere to safety rules and not venture onto thin or fragile ice.
