Huskies Race for Gold in Ukraine

About 50 athletes and hundreds of sled dogs — including Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes and Samoyed dogs — took part in the "Dryland Autumn Cup 2015 " in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on Nov. 15.



Held on dry land instead of the snowy landscape traditionally associated with the thick-coated animals, the dogs were tested for strength and endurance as they pulled their owners on wheels across a race track to the finish line.



The Siberian Husky is able to withstand temperatures of up to -60 degrees C, though temperatures in Kharkiv this weekend did not drop below -4 C.
