Restaurant in the Jewish cultural centre with an official kosher certificate from the rabbi council of Moscow, serving Ashkenazi cuisine, i.e. that cooked by Jews in Europe: esik fleisch, calf-liver pate, filleted fish and so on. There is a no-smoking hall.

Chain of inexpensive restaurants in a lounge-cafe format. The main thing is the relaxing atmosphere: hookah pipes and low sofas with cushions and DJ sets. The Uzbek cooking and national decor is a pleasant extra. The branches located in parks are ideal for summer dinners.

Clumba

Unusually cosy and relaxed restaurant in the centre of town. Light tones, soft seats with cushions, intimate lampshades and flower arrangements everywhere - Clumba club looks like a lovely country house. The menu can pride itself on everything being fashionable and delicious. The usual Moscow mix of Russian, Italian, French, Caucasian and Asian always finds supporters. People come here to watch sporting events on big screens, and also to relax with their children at the children's parties on Sundays. In the evenings trendy DJs play live sets. In summer there is a luxurious terrace with elegant woven furniture and at the centre of the composition is a flower bed.

Chain of expensive coffeeshops. The most famous is on Bolshaya Nikitskaya next to the Conservatory grand hall. The coffee is very good and the desserts ingenious. In hot weather the terrace is especially popular.

Generous portions, fresh ingredients, excellent service and cosy modern interiors from New York's Isaac Correa at this chain of five branches. Gusar - 1812

An unusually pompous and solemn restaurant in the historic manor of general-lieutenant Orlov. Moscow's main architect, Alexander Kuzmin, worked on creating the establishment. The restaurant's facade is executed in the shape of a triumphal arch; inside are columns, rich cornices, wrought iron balustrades, sophisticated furniture and English china. The menu has European and Russian specialities. It is worth trying the olivier with lobster cheeks and pelmeni with bear meat.

Tasty, homemade food at low prices. As you move along the serving counter with your tray, the main thing is to control yourself: everything looks so appeteting, you want to grab everything at once. One of the great-ancestors of the bar movement in Moscow. Here you can drink, dance in the evening and take a hair of the dog in the morning. The cuisine is decent tex-mex and European. The house that this restaurant is in looks like a castle; it was built in 1889. They say that the mason lodge held meetings here and that once Natasha Rostov danced at a ball here.
