Yury Norshstein, one of Russia's most famous animators, is probably best-known for "Hedgehog in the Fog," a 10-minute film that was voted the best animated film of all time in Japan in 2003. The film uses Norshtein's unique style of shifting glass pieces and colorful drawings. Norshtein is known for his slow, painstaking work and has spent almost thirty years working on an animated adaption of Nikolai Gogol's "The Overcoat" (25 minutes out of an expected 65 are finished). In honor of the upcoming Victory Day holiday and the 30th anniversary of his film, "Tale of Tales," which was also voted the best animated film by a different jury in Zagreb, Croatia in 2002, Gallery Na Solyanke has a multimedia exhibition devoted to the work of Norshtein and his wife and co-collaborator Francheska Yarbusova.
