With Moscow temperatures approaching zero and the leaves turning from yellow to brown, summer is unmistakably passing into memory. But before the ice appears, we want to take one more look back.
Moscow Times staff photographer Vladimir Filonov recently captured the season's ebb on Crimea's southern coast, where bathers mingled, tippled and lounged on the beaches in and around Yalta — a favorite spot for vacationers from Russia and Ukraine.
But no vacation could be had from Ukraine's white-hot politics. With Oct. 31 elections around the corner, political parties had papered the town with fliers and slogans, trying to distract beach-goers for a moment and attract them to their cause.
For those preparing for another winter, take a moment for warm-weather scenes in our photo gallery.
