In the southern Russian city of Ulyanovsk, a gang of local residents removed a Turkish flag from the local Efes brewery and replaced it with the one of Russia's Airborne Troops, local news portal 73online.ru reported Wednesday.

A group of 50 to 70 local residents descended on the Efes brewery on Tuesday night — the Efes Beverage Group is headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. They demanded that the Turkish flag be removed from the building, saying it belonged to a hostile state.

Having received the flag from security, they proceeded to throw eggs at it. This occurred in the presence of the police and the city's district administration head, the local Ulgrad.ru news portal reported.

The flag was replaced with the flags of Russia and Russia's Airborne Forces, 73online.ru reported.

The Airborne Troops are considered an elite force in Russia. Their veterans are widely respected and consider themselves a part of the Russian military fraternity. Russia celebrates Airborne Troops Day on Aug. 2, and the celebration repeatedly results in public order violations.
