Passenger Drop Continues for Russian Airlines

Russian air carriers saw passenger traffic drop 14.3 percent last month, the Federal Air Transportation Agency announced in a statement Wednesday.

Figures between January and May show a decline of 6.5 percent compared to last year.

International traffic continues to suffer most drastically, falling fell 32.9 percent compared to last May last year. The number of passengers travelling to countries outside the CIS plunged by 35.1 percent.

Domestic travel numbers continue to rise, with 19 million passengers traveling between January and May. The numbers show a 8.6 percent jump compared to 2015.
