Moscow to Build New Park Near Paveletsky Railway Station

Moscow's Paveletsky Station will soon get a lifestyle upgrade in the form of a fountain-festooned park, amphitheater and recreational area, the urban planning and construction division of City Hall said in a statement.

The renovation comes with the construction of a transit hub near the station. The transport hub will include a two-level parking garage with space for 1,300 vehicles and a transit level connecting parking areas with public transport, the statement cited Deputy Mayor Marat Khusnullin as saying last week.

Khusnullin noted that a survey conducted among the residents of the surrounding area — Moscow's Zamoskvorechye district ?€” found that the neighborhood lacked walking areas, family-friendly cafes, grocery stores and places to rent and park bicycles.

"The designers of the transportation hub will take all of the residents' wishes into consideration," the statement quoted Khusnullin as saying.

According to Khusnullin, City Hall is planning to build 273 transportation hubs across Moscow by 2020 in a bid to reduce congestion on the city's roads.
