TBILISI ?€” Georgian buyers resumed negotiations with Russian grain sellers for the purchase of wheat right after Russia lifted its grain export ban, Levan Silagava, head of Georgia's wheat growers association, said Tuesday.
"At the beginning of July, an agreement for the shipment of up to 30,000 tons of wheat from Russia to Georgia had already been concluded," Silagava said, adding that the first ship carrying Russian wheat has already docked in the Port of Poti.
"Where this spring the price for 1 ton of wheat imported into the country through Poti was $385, it is now in the range of $300 to $320 and looks to stay at that level, or possibly even go down," Silagava said.
