Weekend With the Kids

Sergei Porter / Vedomosti

On Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. the Holiday Inn is hosting a big children's party in Solnechnaya Polyana at Sokolniki Park. There will be sports competitions, contests, photo sessions, games and master classes. As the kids build and decorate a cardboard village and play under the supervision of entertainers, parents and grandparents can relax in a special, almost child-free zone and enjoy soft drinks. Like summer camp, everyone will go home a winner with a prize and souvenir.

There will be a full array of traditional and not-so-traditional entertainment, sports and music. For the kids: mini golf, ring toss, water balloon toss, kits, face-painting, and a dozen other games and activities. Sports include soccer, volleyball and baseball. For the adventurous: horse riding and helicopter rides. For everyone: hot dogs, hamburgers and watermelon. Fireworks at 9 p.m.

And for fans of "Game of Thrones," by popular demand the great Iron Throne is making a return trip to Moscow this weekend. On both Saturday and Sunday you can sit on the throne and chat with characters from the series — that is, Russian actors — by Pavilion 5 near the Friendship of Nations fountain at VDNKh from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
