Experimental director Alexander Sokurov's latest film, "Sun," has been chosen as a competition entry for next month's Berlin Film Festival. The film focuses on the life of Emperor Hirohito, who reigned in Japan for almost 60 years, but publicly renounced his divine status in 1946. It is the third in a trilogy of films by the director about 20th-century dictators. Sokurov made a film about Adolf Hitler in 1999, and another about Vladimir Lenin in 2002. His latest film received 45 percent of its funding from the Culture and Press Ministry.
