St. Petersburg police are searching for an official from the North Korean embassy last seen on the city’s Vasilievsky Island, the Interfax news agency reported Thursday.

Embassy staff told authorities Wednesday that a 40-year-old secretary had not been seen since leaving work in an embassy car around midday on July 1. City police were told that the missing man had not contacted relatives or colleagues, Interfax reported.

There has so far been no official confirmation that an investigation has been opened.
