A passenger plane with a failed engine has carried out a successful emergency landing at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, the TASS news agency reported Monday.

The 50 passengers and three crew members on board have been safely returned to the airport.

The plane's right-side engine died shortly after takeoff and the crew decided to return to the airport, TASS reported, citing a source within the emergency services. The plane circled the airport to burn fuel before attempting an emergency landing.

The Yamal airlines plane was scheduled to fly from Moscow to Murmansk in northwest Russia, TASS reported.
