The establishment of special prisons for terrorists is currently under discussion by members of the Russian Security Council and other agencies, the RIA Novosti news agency reported Thursday.
The plan was announced by representative of the Interior Ministry's Main Directorate for Combating Extremism Denis Kornikov.
The idea of setting up prisons for terrorists was also voiced by vice-chairman of the Russian Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov in November last year, RIA Novosti reported.
Such facilities will be aimed at ensuring that terrorists are not able to recruit those who are in prison for other crimes.
Russia's State Duma is currently scrutinizing a package of bills aimed at strengthening criminal responsibility for terrorism and extremism.
The draft laws were introduced by lawmaker Irina Yarovaya of the United Russia ruling party and head of the Federation Council's defense and security committee Viktor Ozerov, who propose depriving terrorists of Russian citizenship if they have two passports, RIA reported.
