Two Russian citizens captured last year in eastern Ukraine have been sentenced to 14 years in prison on terrorism charges, the Media Zona news portal reported Monday.

Kiev?€™s Goloseevsky District Court recognized Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov as Russian soldiers, although the Russian government has denied their involvement in the Donbass conflict as military personnel.

Alexandrov and Yerofeyev were detained in the Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine last year. They were charged with illegally crossing the border, illegal possession of weapons and involvement in a terrorist organization.
