Two unidentified men threw a bag with crushed pastries and two condoms at Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk on Friday, the Meduza news agency reported, citing Navalny's Facebook post.
Navalny — who had traveled to Novosibirsk to testify in the case against his ally and a member of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) Leonid Volkov — was attacked on the steps of the city court.
"We came out of the court, and two clowns threw cakes at me and fled. The idea that I will have to wash my jacket for two hours again enraged me so much that I even ran at one of them," Navalny wrote on Friday.
According to Navalny's post, Volkov had helped him "hold back" journalists of the LifeNews tabloid news website, who rushed into the opposition leader's Novosibirsk headquarters during the election campaign in July 2015.
Volkov gripped the journalist's arm and broke his microphone, according to the investigation, and was accused of obstructing journalists' legal professional activities, Meduza reported Friday.
In late February, Navalny was involved in a similar attack when he was pelted with a cake outside the FBK office in Moscow.
