Pensioner in Russia's Omsk Dies in Hospital After Three Hours in Queue

A 69-year-old woman has died in a hospital in the Siberian city of Omsk after she was forced to spend three hours in a queue waiting to be seen by a doctor, the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement Tuesday.

According to preliminary data, a woman suffering from diabetes was taken to the hospital on Feb. 24, at 7 p.m.

The patient spent three hours in a hospital corridor waiting to undergo medical tests and to see the doctor, according to the statement.

At around 10.20 p.m. the woman's condition significantly worsened and she died, despite receiving medical assistance.

The Prosecutor General’s Office is currently carrying out an investigation into the incident, the statement said.
