Large Anti-Obama Banner Hung Opposite Moscow's U.S. Embassy

Glavplakat, a pro-Kremlin art community, has hung a banner depicting U.S. President Barack Obama, with the caption “killer,” opposite the U.S. Embassy in the center of Moscow, according to the group's website.

The banner is 10 meters long and covers three stories of the building. The banner was placed there to protest against “the U.S. government planning another military intervention on the territory of another country,” Glavplakat's online statement read.

“The caption 'killer' refers to the new status of the 44th U.S. president, because of his decision to deploy the infamous 101st Airborne Division to Syria,” the statement added.

It went on to say that the U.S. military had killed more than 100,000 people in Iraq alone and between 670,000 and 2 million people in Afghanistan.

Earlier this month U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter announced that the 101st Airborne Division would be deployed to Iraq and Syria to fight the Islamic State.

The Islamic State is a terrorist organization banned in Russia.
