Moscow Court Places Domodedovo Airport Officials Under House Arrest

A Moscow city court has placed three senior officials from Domodedovo Airport's customs service under house arrest, all of whom are suspected of taking bribes from passengers, a news report said Friday.

Vladimir Gavrilov, the head of a Domodedovo customs checkpoint, and two of his deputies, Dmitry Vereshchagin and Alexander Chernov, are accused of having ordered their subordinates to collect fees from Vietnamese passengers in exchange for neglecting to inspect their baggage, the TASS news agency reported.

The group is accused of having collected 19,000 rubles ($295) over four separate incidents, the report added.

Gavrilov and his two deputies will remain under house arrest for the next two months.
